First intein found in eucaryotic virus. Alleles found in archaea, eubacteria, and eucarya. Intein is most similar to B.subtilis prophage Spb RIR1, while extein is most similar to eukaryotic RIR1s, implying horizontal transfer. Intein ends in Gln, not Asn. (Pietrokovski). |
